Conor McGregor may not always hit the headlines for the right reasons, but he does at least show his giving side from time to time. This time, he has reached out to Celbridge man Mick Konstantin after the singer penned a brilliant song about the famed MMA fighter ahead of his upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Konstantin, who plays senior football with Celbridge and previously played for Kildare at underage level, wrote the song ahead of McGregor's fight with unbeaten five-weight world boxing champion Mayweather on August 26.

The song received more than 2.7 million views on facebook and was shared almost 35,000 times, while Konstantin was also interviewed on RTE Radio 1, Today FM and The 6 O'Clock Show on TV3. Sky Sports News also featured a video of the song on one of their bulletins in the last few days.

McGregor was soon made aware of it, and he promptly got his team to get in contact with the Celbridge man and organise flights and accommodation in Las Vegas for Konstantin and a friend, along with tickets to the fight.

"It was one hell of a song," McGregor said. "It’s a very catchy song. We actually reached out to the guy. I had my people reach out to him and we’re booking him flight, him plus one. We’re going to bring him over to the fight and get him tickets and put him up in a hotel, and I’m going to meet him maybe after the fight. It’s one hell of a song.

"I’m going to bring him in as a thank you for the support. What a song, it’s the journey in music form. Myself and my team, we enjoyed it very much, so we’re going to fly him out. Him and a friend."

The singer took to facebook early on Saturday to reveal his delight at the chance to go to Las Vegas, thanking 'The Notorious' and his team.

"VEGAS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just the craziest thing of all time!!!! Flights, accommodation and tickets sorted by the main man.
Cannot even begin to thank himself and all his crew enough!!!! They really are legends, and will never ever forget this gesture!!!

Really is the stuff of dreams!! Going to take a while for this to sink in ha"
