Council asked to investigate sewage overflow in Newbridge estates

Politicians have called on Kildare Co Council to investigate flooding and the sewage overflow in Dara Park and Lakeside Park in Newbridge last month.

Councillor Sean Power called on the Council to provide a full report on the issue and indicate what action will be taken to prevent a re-occurrence.

Councillor Suzanne Pender asked the Council to outline what infrastructural problems exist in Dara Park and Lakeside Park that allows for raw sewage to overflow from the wastewater system up onto the footpaths and into residents’ gardens when it rains heavily.

She added: "What needs to be done in order to prevent this from happening in future?"

The issue will be raised at the local monthly municipal meeting next week.
