Council asked to make public aware that parking is free for first 10 minutes in each car park

Kildare County Council have been asked to ensure that the public are made aware that parking in council car parks in Leixlip and Celbridge is free for the first 10 minutes.

Cllr Bernard Caldwell asked the latest meeting of the Celbridge-Leixlip Municipal District t meake 'it clear that the first ten minutes are free in their car parks in Leixlip and Celbridge'.

The council responded with a report stating that motorists who park their vehicles have a 15-minute window where they can park their cars without a valid ticket.

"The following information is provided on Kildare County Council’s website and on every parking meter in County Kildare: "A 15 minute observation period applies prior to the purchase of/ expiry of a valid pay and display ticket". This information is provided in Irish and English languages," read the council's report.
