Possible locations for further parking spaces that would serve Maynooth Train Station have been identified by the council.

A report from Kildare County Council was issued following a question from Cllr Tim Durkan at a meeting of the Maynooth Municipal District. The report stated that council members felt that the draft layout was a good one, and the public would be consulted on the plans.

"The Municipal District Office have identified the potential for a temporary surface car park on the site of the current contractor compound within the Harbour Field," read the council's report.

"A draft layout has been prepared and if the members agree that the proposal has merit, the council can fully develop the design of the car park and prepare it for public consultation. The cost of the car park would be below the threshold values for mandatory Part VIII planning procedures, but the council would commit to conducting public consultation on the plans, should the members so direct."
