Council to examine manhole for possible 'safety issues'
16:57 Saturday 16th of March 2019

Councillor Kevin Byrne has asked Kildare Co Council experts to examine a wall in Celbridge as there some 'loose rocks' on an adjacent footpath.

Cllr Byrne raised the issue of the boundary wall on the Dublin Road near The Orchard estate at Friday's Celbridge-Leixlip Municpal District meeting.

The Council responded that the Environment Section will carry out an examination of the wall.

Cllr Byrne also called on the Council assess hedgerows in Larkfield Mews Estate, Celbridge, on safety
grounds as he said they are "overgrown onto the footpath and present problems when people are using the pay parking facilities."

The Council said it will ensure that the footpaths are clear and safe for the public to use.

The meeting heard that the Municipal District Engineer will meet with Councillor Byrne to inspect a manhole on the Maynooth Road in Celbridge which the politician claimed may have safety issues for pedestrians.
