Council gets tough on run-down shop in Kildare Town

Kildare Co Council has ordered the owner of a disused building to take steps to stop it become derelict.

The Section 11 notice was issued under the Derelict Sites Act to the property on Shraud Road, Fairview in Kildare Town.

The building currently has broken glass in upper floor windows and has its front boarded up.

An official letter posted to the exterior orders that the windows and doors must be repaired or replaced within 8 weeks.

The Council notice also says that all waste must be removed from the premises and disposed of under the Waste Management Act.

The property must be also maintained regularly to prevent it falling into disrepair.

Plans to carry out the requested works must be forwarded by the property owner to the Council within four weeks, according to the notice.
