Gardaí based in County Kildare believe that two burglaries which occurred in Newbridge and Naas respectively may be linked.

The crimes were highlighted by Garda Sarah O’Sullivan during a guest appearance on KFM on Wednesday, June 10 last.

Gda O’Sullivan explained to host Tara Flanagan that both incidents took place on Thursday, June 4 last.

She said that the first burglary occurred at a property located in the Great Connell region of Newbridge sometime between 10am and 12.10pm.

According to Gda O’Sullivan, an item of jewellery and €210 in cash was stolen from the property.

She added that a ‘suspicious’ silver BMW vehicle was seen in the area at the time.

As for the second burglary, Gda O’Sullivan said that it occurred at a property located in the Lakelands region of Naas between 12pm and 1pm.

Gda O’Sullivan pointed out that while the house was ransacked by perpetrator(s), no items were stolen from the property.

She also revealed that because both crimes have ‘similar MOs’, and as a result, gardaí believe that they may be linked.

Gda O’Sullivan concluded by urging anyone with information relating to the Newbridge burglary to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440 180, and also urged anyone with information relating to the Naas burglary to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300.

When asked by the Leinster Leader about both incidents, a garda spokesperson replied: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of burglary of a residential property that occurred in Newbridge, County Kildare on June 4 last between the hours of 10am and 12.10pm.”

They added that the investigation is ongoing.

In relation to the second incident, the same spokesperson responded: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of burglary of a residential property that occurred in Naas, County Kildare on June 4 last between the hours of 12pm and 1pm.”
