Kildare gardaí criticise motorist caught speeding near 'large' school

Enforcement measures will continue at this location, according to gardaí
Gardaí based in County Kildare have criticised the actions of a motorist who was caught speeding near a 'large’ school.
The speeding incident was highlight by the official An Garda Síochána Kildare page on Facebook, who noted that the motorist was driving at 88 kilometres per hour (km / h) in a 50 km / h zone.
The account elaborated: “Following complaints from residents about speeding, the Naas Roads Policing Unit carried out a speed enforcement operation today on the Green Road in Newbridge.
“A large number of motorists were detected exceeding the 50 km / h speed limit, and one driver was detected travelling at 88 km/h.”
It continued: “This is a densely built-up residential area with a large school nearby.
“There have been a number of serious collisions at this location, with local residents expressing genuine fear when attempting to exit onto the public road.”
The account further said that, as a result of the operation, gardaí issued Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) of €160 and three penalty points were issued.
“Slow down; enforcement will continue at this location,” it added.
Lastly, the account issued a reminder that ‘speed kills’.
