Declan Dockery RIP
Tributes have been paid to a Kildare 'true gentleman' who passed this week.
Declan Dockery, Rockingham Green, Leixlip, Kildare and late of Edgeworthstown, Co Longford, passed peacefully on February 23 2025 at St Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown, surrounded by his loving family.
Declan is deeply regretted by his darling wife Maeve, children Aoife, Orla and Conor, sons-in-law Karl and Steve, grandchildren Sia, Daphne and Aya, brothers Aidan and Kevin, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Rest In Peace
Heartfelt tributes and condolences paid to Declan this week included: “Sad to hear of Declan’s death. Sincere sympathy to Maeve and family, also to Aidan and Kevin. Have great memories of playing football with Declan and seeing him play for Longford, a true gentleman May he rest in peace.”

And: “Sincere Sympathy to Aidan and all the Dockery family on the sad passing of Declan. We were classmates in St. Mel’s college back in the day and I always remember him as the smiling young lad with the mop of red hair. Rest in Peace Declan.”
While another mourner wrote: “Meave, we know you will miss your hugely popular Declan. This is a very sad time for all the family.Dec was the life and soul of many Bank parties. Please remember the good and happy times you had together over the years, they were many. We send you our deepest condolences and sympathy and we wish Declan eternal in the arms of the Lord.”
And another added: “My deepest sympathy to the Dockery family on the death of Declan.
Very happy memories of growing up with Declan and Aidan in Edgeworthstown. At dhéis Dé go raibh a h-sink dílís.”
Declan will be reposing at his residence (W23 R9P7) on Tuesday from 4-8pm, with prayers at 7pm. Removal on Wednesday from his residence at 12.30pm to arrive at the Church of Our Lady's Nativity, Leixlip for 1pm Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Confey Cemetery.
