Tributes paid to 'true gentleman' from Kildare, who passed recently

Tributes have been paid to a “true gentleman” from Kildare, who passed recently.

Bill (William) Igoe, originally of The Walk, Co. Roscommon, and late of Naas, Co Kildare, passed away suddenly on March 1, 2025, in Longniddry, Edinburgh, Scotland, surrounded by his immediate family.

Bill was the beloved husband of the late Patsy. He was the loving father of Trish, Dermot, Ken, and the late Neil, and a proud grandfather to Conor, Vanessa, Alex, Sophie, Christian, Emily, Chloe, and Aimee.

He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, daughters-in-law Mary, Manuela, Caroline, and Charlie, extended family, neighbours, and a wide circle of friends.

Bill was known for his warmth, kindness, and his deep love for his family. He was a cherished member of his community in Naas and beyond.

Tributes paid to Bill this week included: “Condolences to all of Bill’s family on the sad passing of a gentleman who I got to know while I was a barman in Lawlor’s many years ago. Rest in peace Bill.”

And: “Deepest sympathy to the Igoe family on Bill's sudden passing, always a gentleman, may he rest in peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “We were very saddened to learn of Bill's sudden passing, it was a big shock. A lovely gentle person, a pleasure to know and a wonderful neighbour. He will be greatly missed , sincere condolences to all the family and may Bill rest in peace.”

And another added: “Sincere condolences to the Igoe family on the sad passing of Bill, a true gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
