Kildare man remembered as 'a true gentleman'

A Clane man who passed recently has been fondly remembered as 'a true gentleman.'

Andrew (Andy) Sargent, Firmount, Clane, Kildare and fomerly of Caureen, Rathmore, Naas, Kildare, passed peacefully on May 3 2025 in the tender care of the staff of Mount Pleasant Lodge Nursing Home, Kilcock.

Son of the late Andrew and Anne. Sadly missed by his sister Lill, his nieces Eileen, Anne and Mary, nephew John, extended family, neighbours and friends. Predeceased by his brothers Bob, Jack and Tommy.

May Andy Rest In Peace.

Tributes paid to Andy on RIP.ie this week included the following: “Condolences to Eileen and all the family. We have fond memories of Andy. May he rest in peace.”

And: “Our deepest sympathy to you Eileen & extended Sargent family on the passing of Andy. May he Rest In Peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “Deepest sympathy to Lill and family on Andy's passing. A true gentleman. Rest in Peace Andy.”

And another added: “I recall delivering post to the Sargent household on the Caureen Hill in the summer of 1976. Lovely people. May Andrew rest in peace.”

Reposing at Oliver Reilly's Funeral Home, Woods House, Clane, (W91YPX4) on Tuesday from 5pm - 8pm, with evening prayers at 7:30pm.

Removal from the Funeral Home on Wednesday at approx. 10am to arrive at St. Patrick's and St. Brigid's Church, Clane for 10:30am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Burgage Cemetery, Blessington Co. Wicklow.
