Tributes paid to Kildare 'gentleman' and popular bartender

The late Pat O'Brien

Tributes have flowed in following the passing of Pat O'Brien, a popular bartender in The Nag's Head, Monasterevin, Co Kildare.

Pat is the beloved son of Kay and the late Séamus. Much loved brother of Pauline, Philip and Anne. Adored uncle of Niall, Orla and Colm, granduncle of Oisín and Billy Patrick and brother in law of Miriam. Sadly missed by his family, Niall's wife Caoimhe, Orla's husband Rob, cousins, relatives, many friends and all his customers in the Nag's Head.

May His Gentle Soul Rest In Peace.

Tributes paid to Pat on RIP.ie this week include: “Our deepest condolences to Pat's mother, family and friends. Our family spent many a happy night in the Nag's Head. May your gentle soul rest in peace Pat.”

And: “Sincere condolences Mrs O'Brien, Pauline, Anne, Philip and extended family. I had the privilege of working with Pat, a true gentleman and friend. R.I.P Pat you will be missed.”

While another mourner wrote: “Sincere condolences to Mrs O Brien and family on the sad passing of Pat, a true gentleman. May he rest in peace.”

And another added: “Deepest sympathy to Philip and the O'Brien family on the death of Pat, many a good pint of Guinness he served me. Rest in peace Pat.”

Reposing at the Chapel of Rest, Monasterevin on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm, with Rosary recital at 8pm. Removal on Wednesday morning at 10.50am to arrive at St Peter & Paul's Church for 11am requiem mass.

Interment afterwards in St Evin's cemetery.
