Heartfelt tributes for Kildare woman who passed last week

The community of Clane is mourning the passing of Doris Flanagan, Firmount, Clane, Kildare/Strokestown, Roscommon who passed on Friday September 12 last.

Formerly of St. Anne's, Elphin Street, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.

Former P.H.N. in Clane, Co. Kildare.

In the loving care of all the staff at Lourdesville Nursing Home, Kildare.

Doris will be sadly missed by her sorrowing nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, friends, especially Helga, Jo & her loyal friend Sally.

Doris is predeceased by her parents Francis & Mary, brothers Fr. Des, Bill, Brody & most recently her brother Edmond (Teddy) and by her sisters Moira, Sr. Venard & Pauline.

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72), on Sunday, September 14, from 5pm until 6.30pm, followed by removal to Strokestown Parish Church. Funeral Mass on Monday, September 15, at 11am. Burial afterwards in Strokestown Cemetery.

Tributes paid to Doris on RIP.ie this week include: “So sad to learn of the passing of Doris. She was truly a wonderful and dedicated nurse to our community and will be greatly missed. Condolences to all the Flanagan family members relatives and friends. Rest in Peace Doris.”

And: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Nurse Doris. She will be fondly remembered by many whose lives she touched during her work in Clane. Rest in Peace.”

While another mourner wrote: “Sincere sympathy to all the Flanagan families on the death of Doris. A lovely lady. Thoughts & prayers are with you all at this sad time. May Doris Rest In Peace & may she be happily reunited with all those gone before her.”

And another added: “Doris was a great friend of our family when she nursed in Portlaw Co Waterford back in the seventies. A character, a lady and a genuine friend. We kept in touch all over those years. May she rest in peace. She deserves it.”
