Tributes paid to Tony on RIP.ie this week include:
“To Caroline and family, so sorry to hear of the sad passing of your Dad, he will be sadly missed around the village, always had time for a little chat about the old days in The Olddie, may he rest in peace.”
And: “My deepest sympathy to all of the McDonald family on the sad passing of your father Tony. I met Tony several times over the years when passing through Kill when having a little bet & a pint in the Old House. He was a lovely decent man & loved all things Kildare, and he knew his horse racing industry & football inside out as well as always having a good story to tell you. I'll miss his company & may Tony rest in peace.”
While another mourner wrote: “So sorry to hear of the passing of Tony. Lovely man. Always gave us a wave and a big hello in Old house. Can still see him walking to shops with his shopping bag and cane. May he rest in peace.”
And another added: “Our sincere sympathy to Caroline Christopher, David & Peter on the sad passing of Tony. He was a character and a gentleman who will be sadly missed. Thinking of you all at this difficult time.”
