Heartfelt tributes have poured in following the death this week of “true gentleman”, Joe Brady, Athy, Co Kildare.
Joe Brady, Shanrath East, Athy, Kildare and formerly of Ferbane, Co Offaly.
Joe passed away peacefully on September 16 2025 surrounded by his family at St. Bridget’s Hospice, The Curragh.
Joe will be sadly missed by his loving wife June, sons Steve, David, Joe and daughter Gillian, his 8 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 2 great grandsons, 2 great grand daughters, daughters-in-law Michelle, Siobhan and Juliane, son-in-law John, sister Anne, brothers-in-law Gerry Molloy and Joe Molloy, extended family and many friends.
Joe is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Christina, sisters Breda and Kathleen and brother Jack Delaney.
Joe will repose at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, Mount Hawkins, Athy (R14 NX80) on Friday evening 19th September from 5pm until 7pm with Rosary at 6.30pm.

Removal at 10.45am on Saturday morning 20th September to arrive at St. Michael’s Parish Church, Athy for Requiem Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St. Michael’s (New) Cemetery, Athy.

While another mourner wrote: “We are very saddened to hear of Joe's passing. He was a true gentleman, hard working family man and will be truly missed. Sincere condolences to June , Stephen, David, Joe, Gillian and the extended Brady family. May Joe rest in peace. Thinking of you all at this very sad time.”
And another added: “Deepest condolences to June, David, Stephen, Joseph and Gillian and all the grandkids and great grandchildren on the sad passing of Joe. Joe was a gentleman, liked and respected by all that knew him. May he rest in peace.”
