RIP: Tributes paid to 'wonderful neighbour' from Kildare who passed recently

The community of Ryevale Lawns, Leixlip Co Kildare is mourning the recent passing of well-liked resident, Maurice Fitzpatrick.

Maurice, who has been described as a 'wonderful neighour' was formerly of Clogher Road Crumlin and of Dublin Fire Brigade.

Maurice passed peacefully on Friday December 5 2025 with family by his side at St Luke's Hospital, Rathgar.

Maurice is the dearly loved husband of Stephanie and much loved dad of Garrett, Ashling (Rooney), Stephen and Joanna.

He is sadly missed by his loving family, grandkids Shane, Alex, Kieran, Sarah, Isabelle, Yasmin, Michael and Conor and great grandchild Roman and by his brother John along with Melanie, Paula, Dan, Ross and Lily extended family and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Maurice will repose at the family home from 4pm until 7pm on Tuesday, December 9. House private at all other times.

The removal will take place from there on Wednesday, December 10 to the Church of St Charles Borromeo, Confey Parish, Leixlip arriving for funeral Mass at 10am after which Maurice will be laid to rest in Deansgrange Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to St Luke’s.

Tributes paid to Maurice this week on RIP.ie include: “Stephanie and family, I am so sad and sorry to hear that Maurice has passed away. He was a wonderful neighbour to have in Rosslare Strand. I will miss him there.”

And: “My Deepest Sympathies on the passing of Maurice. I had the greatest privilege of working with Maurice for many years a true gentleman and great work colleague. Rest In Peace Maurice.”

While another mourner wrote: “Sincere condolences to Maurice’s family on his passing I worked with him in DFB, always there for a chat about everything & anything, a pleasant and kind man, rest easy Maurice.”

And another added: “So sad to hear this sad news about Maurice. Always a gentleman & very friendly whenever I met him through the years. The best Grandad to Isabelle & Yasmin, would love hearing about his & Stephanie's travels with their motorhome from the girls. My thoughts & prayers are with Stephanie, Gareth, Ashling, Joanna & of course Stephen. May he rest in peace, Amen.”
