After this most recent illegal dumping incident in the Curragh, campaigners have urged people to lobby local politicians to get anti-litter laws enforced.

In the latest shocking act, a kitchen sink and a flat screen TV were among the items discarded on the Curragh Plains.

Reckless

Random dumping

Illegal activity

Leaving or throwing litter in a public place is an offence that can be subject to an on-the-spot fine of €150 or a maximum fine of €3,000 if you are convicted in the local district court.

Enforce laws

A spokesperson for the Protect The Curragh Plains group said: "It’s time to get on to your local TD and Councillors and get them moving.

"It’s not good enough to be picking up and collecting the rubbish from these selfish people.

"The laws are already there and need to be enforced.

"We need to protect The Curragh Plains for future generations."
