Electricity disruptions and trees down in Co Kildare as Storm Ali arrives

ESB Networks has said that a fault has this morning disrupted electricity supplies for over 3,000 customers living in Carbury and Naas.

It is understood that 2,226 premises are affected in Carbury and surrounding areas. and 805 in the Lakelands and Esmondale areas of Naas.

ESB Networks says it hopes to restore supply to both locations by 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, a number of trees and branches are down following strong gusts of winds as Storm Ali arrives.

A tree is down on the N78, on the Carlow side of Athy and the road is blocked. There are also reports of downed trees and debris on the Kilcullen to Curragh Road.

A Status Orange weather warning remains in effect in Kildare, and in 12 other counties, until lunch time at 1pm today.
