The funeral of an  elderly couple who tragically died at their Co Kildare family home earlier will take place later this morning.

Family and friends of a well-known Naas couple are preparing to bid their final farewell.

The bodies of Maureen and Joseph Bradley, both in their 70s, were discovered at their home at Ashfield Park, on Monday.

It is understood that the couple died within a short time of eachother.

Maureen Bradley, who was a carer for her husband,  died as a result of a heart -attack. It is understood that her husband, a retired veterinary surgeon, did not die in suspicious circumstances.

A neighbour of the couple Cllr Séamie Moore said:  "Maureen was extremely religious and a daily mass-goer whilst Colm, a retired vet didn't tend to go out much. She never lost her distinctive West Kerry accent and was well known in the estate and locality. Colm worked with the Department of Agriculture for years and for a time was based in Naas. I believe they have lived here now for 27 years and like most of us, lived an ordinary life, had normal worries as they aged and entered their final years".

Maureen and Joseph Bradley will repose at the George Mullins Funeral Home, Kilcullen Road, Naas tomorrow from 3pm with removal at 6pm arriving at the Church of Our Lady and St. David, Naas at 6.30pm. The funeral will take place Friday after 10am Mass to St Corban's Cemetery.
