Kildare totally dominate Leitrim

One-way traffic all the way for Lilies

Kildare v Leitrim REPORT

Kildare Cathal Hagney goes past Leitrim Jack Foley during Division 3 round 3 National Football League game

This game was effectively over before half-time and well before half-time at that with The Lilies totally dominating in every sector of pitch in that opening period.

The highlight of the opening half was an opportunistic goal from Alex Beirne. Kildare had been awared a close-in free after a 3v3 infringement. However Leitrim elected to leave just their keeper and a single defender on the line and Beirne took full advantage hitting the ball low to the corner of the net.

Kildare had all six forwards on the board on 21 minutes and by half time had no less then ten players with a score to their name.

The second half was merely going through the motions and while Leitrim did bring their score up to seven points, Kildare added ten points to their total and what was really impressive was that no less than 13 players in white got their names on the score sheet.
