Sarsfields forward Karl Hartley and Jack Dooley of Athy in action
Kildare's top tier club pre-season competition will conclude with a decider between Sarsfields and Athy this Saturday, March 7 at 6pm in Manguard Park, Hawkfield.
The Aldridge Cup has concluded somewhat strangely with a Sarsfields appeal resulting in a play-off between them and local rivals Moorefield after the Newbridge teams had finished the round robin games on three wins each. The Sash beat their local rivals by a single point to book their place in the final this weekend.

Athy could have ended up a similarly peculiar scenario had Raheens won their game with Celbridge, but, with the Leinster Leader Senior Football League on the horizon, Raheens conceded the fixture and Athy progressed hassle-free.
Raheens are well into their preparations for a new season under legendary Lilywhite wing-back Anthony Rainbow, while Athy announced former Carlow senior footballer and Éire Óg legend, Seán Gannon, as their new senior football manager in late January.
The Kildare SFC champions saw co-managers Ross Bell and Conor Ronan depart following a brilliant 2025 season with the men in red, which saw them beat five-in-a-row hunting Naas in the county final before reaching a Leinster SFC decider with Ballyboden St Enda's.
The new Athy boss is best known for his playing career having won eight Carlow SFC titles and being a five-time Carlow Senior Footballer of the Year winner.
