Leinster U20 H: Kilkenny come good late pull clear of Kildare

Encouraging display from The Lilies despite loss

Kildare v Kilkenny

Kilkenny corner back Rory Garrett holds off the challenge from Kildare Charlie Carroll

Kilkenny scored their expected win over Kildare in the Fulfil Leinster GAA U20 game at Manguard Park, Hawkfield, this afternoon.

Played in very testing conditions with a strong crossfield wind that was gaining strength as the game progressed, Kildare went in at the break trailing by four points 1-7 to 0-4 which in fairness did not really do them justice, it was a goal from Paddy Lacey in the 27 minute that really did the damage. The Lilies had their chances but seven first half points proved decisive.

Kevin Buggy  and Ed Lauhoff added two quick points for the visitors on the resumption but Kildare came back with Tom Power leading the charge, his accurate free-taking saw the lead cut back to three with ten minutes remaining.

However Henry Shefflin's side came again and finished wiith six unanswered points to win on a final score line of Kilkennhy 1-16 Kildare 0-10.
