Kildare face Wexford in Cedral St Conelth's Park on Saturday, April 18 at 6:30pm in the first round of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship.
The Lilies came up well short when they met The Yellowbellies in the final of Allianz Hurling League Division 1B. It was a much-changed lineup that day in a fixture that was a dead rubber in all but name with both sides safe in the division and needing miracles elsewhere to reach a league final. This clash should be far more exciting as Kildare tackle top-level Championship hurling on home soil with a strong crowd planned to be in attendance.

Dominant wins over Davy Fiztgerald’s Antrim, as well as old foes Carlow and Down meant Kildare headed into the final round league meeting with upcoming Championship opponents Wexford with nothing to lose and little to gain. Brian Dowling rested several key men with neither The Lilies nor The Yellowbellies leaving having learned much from the outing.
That lacklustre Wexford clash is of course the last Kildare hurling outing that fans were privy to but the four-week gap between league and Leinster has facilitated fresh challenges for Kildare with games against Laois and Waterford.
