A popular café in County Kildare recently hosted an afternoon full of craic and ceol for its local community.

The event, which formed part of the annual June Fest celebrations in Newbridge, featured live music, games, sweet treats and coffee inside Mini Mocha.

The business was jam packed on the day, and among those in attendance was local councillor Chris Pender (Social Democrats), who also helped to facilitate the event.

One of the musicians, 15-year-old Emily O’Sullivan, has been involved in June Fest for the last three years, and even sang some original songs on the day.

Speaking about the importance of the event (and June Fest as a whole) Emily told the Leinster Leader that it served as a way to ‘celebrate the start of Summer’.

“It helps bring people together,” she added.

Other musicians who played on the day included Daniella Byrne and Ethan Downey.

In addition, a plethora of brain games were available for attendees on the day, from Jenga and Twister to Chess and Connect Four.
