GAA football legend, turned fashion designer, Paul Galvin was at The Osprey Hotel to launch the newly refurbished gym, Fitness & Leisure today. The four-star Osprey Hotel in Naas held an open day for guests and members of the public to see the new look facility which has undergone a major renovation. New floor space has been added to accommodate 14 new pieces of state of the art strength and conditioning equipment, the Aerobic Studio has been upgraded and a new Members Lounge has also been added. Due to demand a dedicated Ladies Training Area has also been added and the results are truly impressive.
Guests had a chance to look around the new facilities and even partake in some fitness challenges to win various spot prizes including an annual family membership. Complimentary healthy treats were served featuring light bites such as vegetable stirfrys, mini salad cups and smoothies. Later in the afternoon DJ Ray Shah got the crowd going with his up tempo play list and dared several guests to some fitness challenges. Other activities on the day included ‘Happy Feet’ soccer for children, a body pump class and a pool party for children.
Paul Galvin officially cut the ribbon to reveal the new look gym before wishing all the staff, management, and members the best of luck and a happy and healthy New Year at The Osprey. Famed for his skills as a top GAA footballer, Galvin was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 2003 until 2015 and had the honour of being named as the 1,000th All Star in GAA history. Well known for his dogged determination and work ethic both on and off the field, Paul said, “it’s great to see this wonderful development, it’s a great job and isn’t it brilliant to see so many people working out here on a Saturday afternoon.”
General Manager of the Osprey Complex, Peter Brennan said, “We are thrilled with the refurbishment of the gym and know it will meet the demands of our members and guests. This year is an important one for us as we will continue our refurbishment programme throughout The Osprey and build on our business. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year and to thank our loyal customers, members and guests for their support and business.”
The healthy theme will continue all next week with the Osprey running ‘WOW Week’, (Week of Wellness). WOW week will include variouscomplimentary classes and healthy experience such as yoga classes, nutritional talks, and healthy cooking classes. Next Saturday afternoon (14th of January) Cian O’Neil, Manager of the Kildare football team and some of the key players will be at the gym for some more fun fitness challenges. Members of the public are welcome to come and meet the players and partake in some challenges with them including ‘Happy Feet’ football and some fitness challenges to win spot prizes on the day. The team are expected to be at The Osprey from 1.30pm.
The Osprey complex includes the four-star Osprey Hotel, Soul Spa, Osprey Conference Centre, Fitness & Leisure and Centre Stage, the entertainment theatre. The hotel incorporates 104 bedrooms including classic rooms, executive rooms, junior suites, duplex suites and two penthouse suites with balconies. There is also a ballroom, brasserie, bistro, bar, and extensive outdoor courtyard. The style and design of the building is very contemporary; a giant cylindrical tower with a curved copper roof stands at the heart of the hotel, creating the very hub of the building and housing an impressive double switch back stairs. The interiors are bright, light filled spaces and the central foyer is wrapped in glass which overlooks a dramatic water feature to the front of the building.
