Gardai investigating break-in at house in the same area that a Chinese family were held hostage in

Gardai in Naas are investigating a break-in at a house that is located in the same area as the house in which a Chinese family were held hostage in just before Christmas.

The incidents, which are not believed to be linked, took place in the Johnstown Manor estate just outside of Naas. At around 9am this morning two men smashed the back door window of a house in The View, Johnstown Manor, and despite triggering the alarm, proceeded to enter the premises.

The men are believed to have spent a relatively short time in the house and there has been nothing reported stolen from the property. Gardai are currently examining CCTV footage which shows two males initially hiding behind a wall in Johnstown Gardens before a grey Chrysler taxi pulls up. Both males entered the vehicle and it took off in the Dublin direction.

Naas Gardai are continuing to examine CCTV footage from the area and anyone with information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300.
