9:13 Thursday 12th of July 2018

Another arrest has been made in the investigation into the murder of Leixlip teen Ana Kriegel in May.

Gardai said: "A juvenile male was arrested this morning and is expected to appear before Dublin District Children’s Court, Smithfield, today at 10:30am charged in connection with the investigation."

Last month, a teenage boy, who cannot be named because he is under 18, was charged with the murder of 14-year-old Ana at a derelict farmhouse in Lucan on May 14.

A hearing at the Children's Court in Dublin heard that over 20 Gardai are working on the murder investigation.

A total of 230 statements have been taken and 675 hours of CCTV footage have to be viewed.

Ana was reported missing on May 13 and her body was found three days later in a derelict farmhouse in Lucan.

The Kriegel family asked mourners to wear sparkle and colour at a funeral service at Newlands Cross Crematorium.

Ana is survived by her parents Patrick and Geraldine, brother Aaron, grandmother Eva (Ball), aunts Jennifer, Jan and Lynne, uncles Kevin, Ray and Phil, cousins Bruno, Philippe, Natalie, Mérone, Carla, Darragh, Martha, Art, Sadbh, Cillian and Fiadh, relatives and friends.

Ana lived with her family at Newtown Park in Leixlip, County Kildare and she attended the local Confey Community College in Leixlip.

Local communities of Leixlip and Lucan opened books of condolences in the tragic schoolgirl's memory.
