Early indications in Kildare South show that Shonagh Ní Raghallaigh is polling very well.

Martin Heydon (FG) and Fiona O'Loughlin (FF) are also picking up votes with boxes from Kildare town, Newbridge, Athy and Rathangan yet to be tallied.

With only 18 per cent of the boxes tallied, it's too early to call and transfers are going to play a big part in the outcome, especially for the last seat. Senator Mark Wall could also be in the running for that third seat depending on where the transfers go.

There are three seats up for grabs as the ceann comhairle, Sean O'Fearghail is automatically re-elected.
