Up to three sitting TDs across Co Kildare could lose their seats, according to tallies.

In Kildare South, Martin Heydon (FG) looks likely to top the poll with almost 22% of the vote followed by Senator Fiona O'Loughlin (FF).

Then it's a three-way battle for the third seat between Shona Ni Raghallaigh (SF), Senator Mark Wall (Lab) and Cathal Berry (Ind).

Depending on how transfers are distributed, it appears that Deputy Berry could be in difficulty, according to tallies.

Outgoing TD Patricia Ryan, who left Sinn Féin to become an independent, has had a disappointing showing.

In Kildare North, veteran TD Bernard Durkan (FG) is fighting a battle to retain his seat.

James Lawless and colleague Naoise O Cearúil look set to take two seats for Fianna Fáil, according to tallies.

The next seats could go to Aidan Farrelly (Soc Dems) and Reada Cronin (SF).

Following that, Fine Gael candidate Cllr Joe Neville is slightly ahead of Durkan on first preferences, according to tallies.

It will be a long weekend for any candidate who is struggling after the First Count.
