KILDARE: Man allegedly stole €5,000 from vehicle

There is increasing concern over the future of Naas Courthouse

A man who allegedly stole €5,000 from an unlocked vehicle appeared at Naas District Court.

William Cawley, 23, whose address was given as Ardcath Road, Garristown, Dublin, was prosecuted for taking the money at Circle K northbound, Kill on June 18, 2020.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that the money was not recovered.

He also said that no violence was used during the incident.

The money was taken out of a bank in Athy, the court was told.

Judge Desond Zaidan granted free legal aid after hearing that the defendant is not working and is receiving social welfare. The allegation was adjourned to January 25.
