LATEST: Costs for Newbridge, County Kildare, cycling project detailed

Costs relating to the controversial Newbridge cycle lane scheme were relayed to local councillors at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting on Wednesday, January 18.

A report on the project recapped that, in 2021, the Temporary Cycle and Seating Infrastructure Projects on Main Street & Edward Street, Newbridge was constructed.

The report added that the Design of the Newbridge Town Cycle Track Network Scheme, initially listed for last year, has now been brought forward to a public consultation in Q1/2 of 2023.

The total cost of the project on Main Street & Edward Street, Newbridge Project was €150,770, while the total cost of the other scheme to date is €88,100.

The report also outlined a number of live projects in Newbridge, including: Athgarvan Road Improvement Works, the Dunmurray Road Kildare Town Improvement Works, and the Ballymany Road & the Standhouse Road in Newbridge.

It also noted that grant funding of €351,000 was provided for bridge works in the MD in 2021, and €455,400 in 2022.
