Councillor calls for action over illegal encampment between Naas and Newbridge

A local councillor has called for swift action from authorities after an illegal encampment has arrived on private lands between Naas and Newbridge.

The location is close to a link road beside the Lidl Regional Distribution Centre at Little Connell. 

Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer said: "This road is under private ownership as yet not been taken in charge by Kildare County Council.

"Each time the illegal encampment leaves the clean up operation is substantial.

"I'm calling on the owners of this land to take measures to prevent this recurrent situation.

"It is not fair on residents who live in the area, staff going to work and business who work along this economic corridor.

"The garda can only do so much but it is the landowners who have overall responsibility for the property."
