An update was given in an alleged assault and drugs case.

Back in September, Naas District Court was told that Daniel Malone, with an address given as 46 Clifden Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, County Dublin, allegedly assaulted a woman in Kildare on a date in 2021.

It was also alleged that suspected diamorphine was found on the 29-year-old the following day by gardaí.

On the latest court date — Thursday, February 16 — Garda Sergeant Brian Jacob said that the suspected diamorphine actually turned out to be 'fake heroin.'

A book of evidence was served on Mr Malone, and Judge Desmond Zaidan sent his case forward for trial by jury at the next sittings of Naas Circuit Criminal Court, commencing on March 7.
