Kildare Village Retail Outlet
The owners of Kildare Village and Tesco Ireland are among those objecting to a proposed hotel.
Back in December, the Leinster Leader reported that a 158 bedroom, six-storey hotel is being planned for County Kildare.
The development was proposed by Murlynn Capitals Investments Limited on land bounded by the Monasterevin Road (R445) and to the west by the Nurney Road (R415).
Value Retail Dublin Ltd told Kildare County Council (KCC) on Kildare Village's behalf that its client has 'a number of serious concerns' over the proposed development.
The concerns relate to: traffic safety and general access, parking, design, servicing and planning policy considerations.
Kildare Town Tidy Towns' chairperson, Mary Connor, called the proposed development 'inappropriate' in her submission to KCC.
She said that the group feels that the current plans 'out scales and conflicts with the architectural context of the main entry point to one of the most historic towns in Ireland.'
In addition, RMLA Limited, acting on behalf of Tesco Ireland, said that the supermarket giant has concerns regarding parking provisions, serving arrangements, a potential increase in noise, and the potential for 'significant traffic challenge's for Tesco's existing delivery arrangements, operations, and for pedestrian safety (on the Monasterevin Road).'
However, Curragh Racecourse Ltd welcomed the development, as there was 'a shortage in (the) availability of beds.'
According to the business information website SoloCheck.ie, Murlynn Capitals Investments Ltd was set up in Dublin in 2019.
The company concentrates in 'Other Specialised Construction Activities' and has an address listed as 2nd Floor, 25 Mountjoy Square East, Dublin 1, County Dublin.
