LATEST: Kildare motorists urged to be careful amid sleet and snow showers

Weather warnings are in place in Kildare

Wintry showers of sleet and snow are falling across Kildare, making road conditions potentially dangerous.

Three Weather Warnings have been issued for Kildare by Met Éireann.

Status Yellow Warnings for the entire country have been issued for Low Temperatures / Ice and Snow/Ice for Ireland.

A Snow and Ice Warning is also in place for Leinster.

The warnings run until 10am on Friday. 

The forecaster predicts that 'rain, sleet and snow will spread northwards across the countryduring Thursday accompanied by strengthening easterly winds'.

"Accumulations of snow are expected in many areas along with icy conditions," the national forecaster added.

Sleet and snow is likely transition to rain in southern areas for a time but people are asked to be aware of possible hazardous driving conditions, travel disruption and poor visibility.
