The information was given to councillors at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting last week.
There are no resources to install new bins at the Lakeside Park/Highfield/Dara Park (LHD) area in Newbridge, according to Kildare County Council (KCC).
On Wednesday, March 15, Fianna Fáil councillor Noel Heavey put forward the following motion at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting: "That the council provide a litter bin and signage to deal with casual littering at the seating area around the lake at Lakefield, Highfield and Dara Park Estates in Newbridge."
His sentiments were supported by Social Democrats Chris Pender, and added that there have been occasions where litter makes it way into the lake in the LHD area.
Cllr Heavey told KCC: "The people of LHD take pride in their area."
In response, KCC said that 'there are no resources available to provide and manage the collection of additional bins in this municipal district at present.'
However, a member of KCC present at the meeting said that the council could examine the area, and would make not of the bins currently in the LHD area.
This reassurance was welcomed by Cllr Heavey.
