UPDATED: Young woman pronounced dead following incident at the Hill of Allen

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochana said that gardaí conducted a search operation with assistance from Mountain Rescue and local Fire Services at the Hill of Allen.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána has said that the incident appears to be a tragic accident.

A young woman has been pronounced dead following an incident at a County Kildare quarry.

When asked about the incident by the Leinster Leader, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Following report of an incident, gardaí conducted a search operation with assistance from Mountain Rescue and local Fire Services at the Hill of Allen on Friday, April 7, 2023.

"The body of a woman aged in her late teens was recovered from the area.

"Her body was removed to hospital for post mortem. 

The spokesperson added: "A file will now be prepared for the Coroner."
