From next Monday, April 24, an additional €200 will be paid to anyone who is currently in receipt of social welfare and who qualifies for the Christmas Bonus (as well as those who receive the Working Family Payment).
The announcement was welcomed by Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O'Loughlin, who said: "This payment is significant for supporting those who are struggling financially, particularly during this continued period of inflation.
"The additional payment will help alleviate the financial burden faced by those who rely on social welfare payments and will provide much-needed relief to low-income families.
"We understand the challenges faced by families and individuals who rely on social welfare payments, and we are committed to supporting them in any way we can."
