WEATHER WARNING: Met Eireann warns of heavy downpours as Thunderstorm and Rain Warning issued for most of Ireland

Met Eireann is warning of heavy downpours through this afternoon, this evening and early tonight as a Thunderstorm and Rain Warning has been issued for Kildare and most of Ireland.

A Status Yellow Thunderstorm and Rain warning is in place for Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford. It remains in place until 10pm on Monday.

Met Eireann is warning that there will be localised slow-moving showers with heavy downpours, potential thunderstorms and a chance of hail. These conditions could bring localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast, it will be very warm or hot on Tuesday with sunny spells and a light southeasterly breeze. Scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms will break out during the day, most likely in the west or midlands with a further risk of spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 23 to 27 degrees, although less warm along coasts due to sea breezes. Some coastal mist or fog may linger.
