Cathaoirleach Daragh Fitzpatrick
Allenwood's Daragh Fitzpatrick is the new cathaoirleach of the 40 member Kildare County Council.
The Fianna Fáil councillor replaces Fintan Brett (Fine Gael) who has stood down after a year in line with protocol.
Cllr Fitzpatrick is the son of former TD Michael Fitzpatrick, who passed away in 2011 and who himself served as both a councillor and cathaoirleach.
There was cross party support for Cllr Fitzpatrick’s elevation - he was proposed by party colleague Suzanne Doyle and seconded by Fine Gael’s Brendan Weld.
Cllr Doyle referred to his calm demeanour and Cllr Weld commented that he would make an excellent mayor.
Both councillors also remembered the contribution of his late dad.

Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer
Kilcullen councillor Tracey O’Dwyer (FG) will serve as leas cathaoirleach for the next twelve months.
Cllr O’Dwyer was put forward by colleague Mark Stafford and seconded by Ivan Keatley (FG).
Neither councillor was opposed.
