A Sinn Féin councillor has called on Kildare County Council (KCC) to reinstate a bus route between the Kildare Train Station to the Kildare Village Retail Outlet.

Speaking at the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting on Wednesday, June 21, Cllr Noel Connolly urged KCC to correspond with Value Retail and to ask them to restore the bus connection.

Commenting on the service, Cllr Connolly said: "Pre-Covid (referring to the pandemic), this was a fantastic service, but it seems to have stopped.

"I think we should write to them (Value Retail) and ask them to take action on it."

His motion was seconded by Fianna Fáil Cllr Suzanne Doyle, who was also the chairperson for the meeting.

All members agreed that the MD office should write to Value Retail about the issue.

Cllr Doyle also asked KCC to place the matter on a progress report.
