'A huge task still ahead' - Ryan invites Kildare people to have their say on Climate Action Plan

The Minister for the Environment is inviting people across the country, including in County Kildare, to have their say on the next Climate Action Plan.

Minister Eamon Ryan launched Climate Conversations 2023 yesterday (June 27) and is encouraging anyone interested in submitting their thoughts on climate change to do so.

He said, "We set up the National Dialogue on Climate Action to allow people right across the country to share their views on what climate change means to them, what we can do about it, how we can make for a better world here at home as well as the wider planet.

"There are a whole lot of different ways that you can make your contribution and have your voice heard. We encourage everyone to be part of the conversation. Some 9,000 people have done it in the past two years and we expect it to be bigger and better this year.

"We look forward to hearing your view, hearing your voice, and working together to tackle climate change."

Over 4,000 people across the country engaged in Climate Conversations 2022, with the findings directly informing the Climate Action Plan for 2023.

People who may be particularly affected by Ireland's transition to carbon neutrality are particularly encouraged to engage with this year's process.

Minister Ryan continued: "Everyone, including Government, communities, industry and individuals, will need to work together to make Ireland carbon-neutral for a sustainable future.

"There is a huge task still ahead of us to bridge the gap between where we are now and where we need to get to by 2050.

"But that’s why it’s so important for people to have their say on how we can all contribute to our ambitious goals, and how that will affect their lives in practical ways and importantly how we, as a government, can engage, enable, and empower people to adapt and realise the opportunities this transition presents."
