Fine Gael Councillor Tim Durkan and Labour Party Councillor Angela Feeney as Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach respectively at the annual meeting of the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District.
The new Cathaoirleach and leas Cathaoirleach of the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District (MD) have been elected.
Fine Gael (FG) Cllr Tim Durkan was elected as the Cathaoirleach, while Labour Party Cllr Angela Feeney was elected as the leas Cathaoirleach.
The elections were made at the annual MD meeting, which was held on the 52M Barge in Robertstown.
Cllr Durkan was proposed by FG Cllr Brendan Weld, and his nomination was seconded by Independent Cllr Pádraig McEvoy.
Cllr Feeney’s nomination was also proposed by Cllr Weld.
Paying tribute to the outgoing Cathaoirleach, Fianna Fáil Cllr Daragh Fitzpatrick, Cllr Weld thanked him for his service.
He said that Cllr Fitzpatrick was 'very courteous and fair.'
Cllr Weld also commended him on becoming the Cathaoirleach for the entire county of Kildare.
In a change of pace, the annual Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting took place on the 52M Barge in Robertstown.
