A woman was punched and kicked by her partner, it was claimed at Naas District Court.
The court was told the defendant assaulted the woman by kicking and punching her between October 2020 and May 2021.
It was claimed that this resulted in bruising to her arms and legs.
It was further claimed the woman was held by her wrists and pushed into a wall.
Defending solicitor said the couple are married with children.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said he would accept jurisdiction, meaning the case will be heard in the district court.
He also imposed reporting restrictions to protect the anonymity of the children.
The case was adjourned to October 25.
