Electric vehicle charge points proposed  for Junction 14 station in Monasterevin, County Kildare

A number of electric vehicle (EV) charge points have been proposed for the Junction 14 service station in Mayfield, Monasterevin.

Lidon Ltd is seeking planning permission to install the EV charge points at the Mayfield Interchange Services Area of Junction 14.

The development will consist of the following: the installation of 24 EV car charging bays, two EV bus charging bays, and two electric vehicle truck charging bays, each comprising a parking space and EV charging unit.

Permission is also being sought for: the installation of 59 staff car parking spaces and relocation of 17 truck parking spaces; in addition to: the installation of 10 electric vehicle power unit’s c/w 2.0 metre-high palisade fence enclosure; the construction of extension to the existing ESB substation building (24 square metre).

Site development works would include the following, installation of one covered bicycle parking area, one covered smoking shelter, and the construction of two dog walking tracks, acoustic perimeter fencing, site lighting, precast kerbing, surfacing, landscaping, and all associated drainage works.

The date received is listed as July 14 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as August 17 and September 7.

According to the official Junction 14 website, the station is a part of the Lidon Group, which is a group of sister associated-companies owned and run by members of the Fitzpatrick family, who have been in business since 1954.
