KILDARE: ESB has made connections to unauthorised developments

Power outage affecting 1,865 homes and businesses in Dundalk

At least 20 unauthorised developments have been provided with an electricity link by the ESB.

That was the claim of Cllr Fintan Brett at a Kildare County Council meeting.

He wants the council to write to the ESB asking it to clarify “their position/policy on providing a power supply to unauthorised developments.”

He told the meeting that there has been a barrage of complaints from the public concerning one of these connections.

He suggested that the ESB should first seek evidence that planning permission has been granted.

“Electricity supply is the lifeblood of unauthorised developments,” he said.
