Gardai stopped a van driver and found cocaine valued at thousands of euro at the weekend.
Gardai seized the van along with the drugs at a checkpoint in Portarlington on Sunday evening.
“Laois Roads Policing Unit conducting a checkpoint in Portarlington yesterday evening stopped this vehicle.
"The driver was found to be in possession of over €5,000 euros worth of cocaine,” Gardai said.
“The driver was arrested and has been charged to appear before Portlaoise District Court.
"The vehicle was also seized,” they added.
