Kildare Wildlife Rescue (KWR) and Kildare County Council are coming together to host a one-day biodiversity conference.

The news follows after the KWR recently announced it had also struck a partnership with Dublin Zoo for a separate collaboration.

According to the KWR's manager, Dan Donoher, the conference 'promises to be an invaluable platform for individuals, organisations, and groups actively engaged in biodiversity initiatives.'

He also said: "We are delighted to partner with Kildare County Council to host this important event.

"By bringing together passionate individuals and organizations invested in biodiversity, we hope to foster collaboration, inspire innovation, and ultimately make a positive impact on the ground for our wildlife and natural habitats."

Commenting on the objectives of the upcoming event, Mr Donoher said: "The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:

1. Learn from Each Other: Attendees will have the opportunity to gain insights from fellow participants, sharing best practices, and exploring compelling case studies.

2. Foster Collaboration: The event encourages the identification of potential collaboration opportunities among attendees, facilitating partnerships that can drive impactful biodiversity initiatives.

3. Address Skills and Knowledge Gaps: Participants will have the chance to identify areas where additional skills and knowledge are needed, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of biodiversity-related issues.

4. Network and Form Connections: The conference offers a conducive environment for networking, enabling attendees to establish valuable connections on both individual and community levels.

5. Enhance Biodiversity Action: By bringing together a diverse range of speakers specializing in biodiversity, wildlife conservation and protection, habitat management, and community action plans, the conference aims to inspire and equip attendees with practical tools to improve biodiversity initiatives across County Kildare and beyond."

He also said: "Throughout the day, esteemed local guest speakers will deliver insightful presentations, sharing their expertise and experiences in various aspects of biodiversity conservation.

"The event will also feature numerous networking opportunities, providing attendees with valuable chances to connect and exchange ideas."

As well as this, the conference will culminate with an interactive panel discussion.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to participate in the event by asking questions, and making suggestions on how to collectively work towards enhancing biodiversity within County Kildare.

Due to the limited availability of spots, interested individuals are encouraged to reserve their places early to avoid disappointment.

"Don't miss out on this exceptional event that promises to inspire and empower individuals and organizations in their biodiversity efforts," Mr Donoher added.

To secure your spot and for more information, please visit KWR's eventbrite page at https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/kildare-biodiversity-conference-2023-tickets-697495476747?aff=oddtdtcreator or email manager@kwr.ie.

Kildare County Council is supporting this project with the Local Biodiversity Action Fund, from the Department of Housing Local Government and Heritage.

The conference will take place at Saturday, October 14 at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge.
