Kildare councillor: ‘‘It feels like Uisce Éireann has given me the run-around’’

A Fine Gael councillor has said that she feels as if Uisce Éireann (UE) 'has given me the run-around.'

Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer told those in attendance at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting on Wednesday, September 20, that she has been finding it difficult to contact UE.

She made the comments regarding a motion she brought up regarding the smell of sewage plaguing Athgarvan. Cllr O’Dwyer added: "UE knows that there is a problem, as they have received a number of complaints about the issue."

Cllr O'Dwyer then asked members to write to UE 'requesting an update on their plans to increase the level of the sump and redirect all sewage to the pumping station in Suncroft, as previously recommended by Kildare County Council.'

The matter was put to a vote, and it was agreed by all members present at the meeting to send a letter to UE.
