Further alleged details in a court case involving a massive suspected haul of drugs were heard at Naas District Court on Thursday, October 5 last.

Last month, it was alleged by gardaí that Dallandgshe Mersini, with an address listed as no fixed abode in Newbridge, but who is currently remanded in custody, was involved in harbouring and/or possibly trafficking the suspected haul.

Gardaí claimed that the 18-year-old was discovered with the suspected haul at a property in Brownstown in the Curragh on August 1 last.

The suspected drugs are believed to be cannabis.

On the latest court date, Judge Desmond Zaidan was told that Ms Mersini was a passenger in a car being driven by an unknown male on August 1.

Gardaí alleged that the car failed to stop for them, but later came to a halt.

Shortly afterwards, the driver fled from the car, but Ms Mersini was apprehended by gardaí.

Gardaí added that upon further inspection of the car, the suspected haul was discovered.

After it was heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions indicated a trial on indictment, Judge Zaidan adjourned the case to October 12, to allow time for a book of evidence to be presented.
